Your wedding photos show the big day. Honeymoon photos show the two of you afterward — relaxed, tanned and finally without a schedule. Here's how to make them great.

When to book during your stay

Not on the first day: you'll be tired from travel and probably still pale. Not on the last day either: if the weather doesn't cooperate, we need a backup. Two or three days in is ideal.

Wedding outfit or not?

Both are wonderful.

• Wedding dress and suit: there's something special about wearing them again, with no timeline and no guests. The dress in the wind, even in the water, makes for photos you won't get on the wedding day. We do the dry photos first and the water at the end.
• Casual: linen, a sundress, bare feet. It reads as "honeymoon" instantly.

Some couples do both in one session: a first look in wedding clothes, then a change — just mention it in your inquiry.

Ideas that make it personal

• Bring your rings — detail photos are always a favorite.
• Recreate one pose from your wedding photos, now on the beach.
• Read each other the vows again, just the two of you.
• Bring a bottle of champagne for the end of the session.
