Outfit changes during a Punta Cana photoshoot
When a second outfit makes sense, how much time it takes, where to change on the beach or at a resort, and how to plan it so you don't lose the best light.

"Can we change outfits?" is one of the first questions I get. Yes — but it's worth planning, because the best light in Punta Cana doesn't wait.
When a second outfit is worth it
- Engagement or save-the-date photos, when you want variety.
- Honeymoons, if you want to wear your wedding clothes for part of the session.
- Solo portraits for a brand or a birthday.
For most families with small kids, one outfit is better. Changing three children takes longer than you think.
How much time it takes
Count 10–15 minutes per change, including walking to and from where you change. In a short session that can be a big part of the time, so a change works best in a longer session.
Where to change
- At a resort, your room is the easiest option. We plan the route so we pass by it.
- On a public beach like Macao, there's no real changing room. Keep it simple: a dress over swimwear, or a shirt swap.
The order matters
Start with the outfit you care about most, in the best light. If one look is more formal (like a wedding dress), do it first while it's clean — the sea and the sand always win at the end.
Colors for two looks
Make the two looks different enough to be worth it: for example, a white dress for the first and a warm color like terracotta for the second. Two very similar outfits look like one in the final gallery.
